Fund raising to provide Bread and other Nutritious supplement to Children and Women in IDPs camps

Dear Friend,

You said we could count on you to unlock your power in critical moments to help end hunger and extreme poverty in our communities.
That time is now.
For the first time in Nigeria’s history a sitting government has been voted out of power by its citizens. Many experts saw this vote as a referendum of the government’s inaction on tackling Boko Haram, one of world the most dangerous terrorist group.
We talk about safety, food, water and access to education when we talk about ending hunger and extreme poverty in our communities.
All of these values and more are at risk in Nigeria. Boko Haram has kidnapped hundreds of school girls.
The terrorist organization has abducted hundreds of civilians, including children, to use as human shields against military action.
And Boko Haram has left over 5 million children out of school, killed over 10,000 people, and driven as many 1.5 million from their homes. It must stop. If we act quickly, and loudly, we can help. The recently elected Nigerian president Muhamadu Buhari, already has a mandate from Nigerians to end Boko Haram’s violence.
The conflict is exerting a heavy toll on children in Nigeria and across the region in an increasing number of ways. As well as being killed, maimed and displaced. Children are being used within the ranks of Boko Haram as combatants, Cooks, Porters and Look-outs, Young women and girls are being subjected to forced marriage, force labor and rape, while students and teachers are being deliberately targeted.
More than 300 schools were damaged or destroyed and at least 196 teachers and 314 school children has been killed. The Boko Haram insurgency in North – Eastern Nigeria has left many residents homeless. These local refugees are forced to live in camps for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in their own country. Some such camps located in Durumi and Kujigoro area of Abuja, which caters to former residents of Gwoza and Bama in Borno state, both of which were the strong hold of the sect.
Stories of displaced women and children in the camps, Salamatu Chinayi used to sell food in a local market to supplement the income her family earned from farm – helping feed her nine children and send them to school.
But that, along with the family’s home and some of their love ones, was all lost when members of Boke Haram attacked Salamatu’s home town, Askira Uba, in Borno state. The separated the men from the women and then began killing the men, including Salamatu’s brother. That’s when everyone started running. She said. She and a surviving brother began to flee, but a shot rang out, and he, was killed. They burned our houses. There is nothing left, she said, her husband and their children managed to escape to the IDP’s camp. She said we could bring nothing with us.
