CHALLENGES.......

CHALLENGES.......

THE CHALLENGES:
Nigeria is the most populous country in Africa with a population of over 173 million. In 2012, the country’s economy grew at a rate of 6.5 percent, largely fueled by oil revenues. It is the sixth largest exporter of oil in the world. However, amidst the indicators of progress, the country is still troubled by myriad socioeconomic problems. Of this 32 percent live on less than US$2.5 a day, and 68 percent on less than US$1.5 a day With 44% of children underweight.
The future of rural Nigeria, where the highest concentration of extreme poverty prevails, depends on overcoming enormous challenges in Health, Education, Nutrition, Population and Environment.
·         Rural Children are unable to access education
·         Approximately half of the girls in rural communities become mothers before age 16 -18
In Hero Kids Rehabilitation Foundation (HKRF), we believe that the most leveraged way to alleviate Hunger and Extreme poverty in our communities is through promoting and support basic education as the fundamental right for every child. Development is sustainable when local communities build capacity at the grassroots and create own solutions.
Hero Kids Rehabilitation Foundation ( HKRF ) Team has set up a program Bread For Hunger ( Bread4Hunger) as humanitarian  response to alleviate Hunger and Extreme poverty in Emergency camps and  Rural communities public schools focus especially on children and women.

Basic education is the fundamental right for every child

Basic education is the fundamental right for every child

Children have a right, as expressed in the Universal Declaration of Human Right and the UN Convention on the Right of the Child, to receive education, and basic education must be considered part of this right. Hero Kids Rehabilitation Foundation (HKRF) strongly believes that basic education is of great value to all children and should be available to all. It provides a sound basis for learning and help to develop skills, knowledge, personal competence and confidence and a sense of social responsibility. Therefore, every child should have access to good quality basic education.
The fundamental right of each child to learn and develop to his or her full potential, through equal access to good quality education, regardless of their age, gender, origin, ethnicity and or social background. The major issue in Nigeria’s basic education system is the lack and poor state of infrastructure, learning facilities and resources.
We talk about safety, food, water and access to education when we talk about ending extreme poverty. All of these values, and more, are at risk in Nigeria.
